Who We are

Mission statement

Eupora Methodist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness by worshipping passionately, loving extravagantly, and witnessing boldly. Rooted in the authority of Scripture and the Lordship of Christ, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to watch over one another in love and share the whole counsel of God to transform our community and the world.

what we believe

The Global Methodist church

At Eupora Methodist Church, we belong to the Global Methodist Church, a worldwide network of impactful, connectional churches. Our faith is grounded in the historic Christian creeds and Wesleyan tradition, highlighting the transformative power of God’s grace.

The trinity

We believe in the one true, holy, and living God, who is the Creator and Preserver of all things. God exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The father

We cherish our belief in God the Father, who is infinite in wisdom, power, and love. He lovingly governs with caring concern for the well-being and salvation of all people, bringing glory to His name.

The son

We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He provides the only way of salvation and reconciliation with God.

The holy spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is with us today, convicting the world of sin, comforting believers, and empowering us to live holy lives.

The Church

We perceive the Christian Church as a community of genuine believers in Christ, united as one, holy, apostolic, and catholic. It functions as a redemptive fellowship in which God's Word is proclaimed and the sacraments are properly administered according to Christ's instructions. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Church's mission is to maintain worship, nurture believers, and strive for the redemption of the world.

The Authority of Scripture

We believe the Holy Bible (Old and New Testaments) is the primary rule and authority for our faith, morals, and service. It contains all things necessary for salvation. We believe that the Scriptures are inspired by God and serve as the final word against which all other authorities must be measured.

The The Wesleyan Way of Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, available to everyone through faith in Jesus Christ. We describe this journey of grace in four distinct ways:

Prevenient Grace: The grace that "goes before" us, seeking us out even before we are aware of God.
Convincing Grace: The Holy Spirit heightens our awareness of sin, leading to repentance.
Justifying Grace: The grace by which we are forgiven and made right with God through faith in Christ (the "New Birth").
Sanctifying Grace: The ongoing work of the Holy Spirit that transforms our hearts and lives, enabling us to grow in "Scriptural Holiness" and love for God and others.

The Sacraments

We believe sacraments are more than signs, and God meets us through them. We recognize two sacraments ordained by Christ as signs of God's love and means of grace:

Baptism serves as a sign of profession, distinction, and regeneration, even for young children.
Holy Communion is a sacrament of redemption symbolizing Christ’s love and sacrifice. When received with faith and in a worthy manner, the bread and cup represent sharing in Christ’s body and blood. Believers spiritually partake in His body through faith and experience His real spiritual presence.

Sin and Free Will

We believe that humanity has fallen from righteousness and, without the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, is lacking in holiness and inclined toward evil. A person must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. Without divine grace, humans cannot perform good works that please God. However, we believe that, when influenced and empowered by the Holy Spirit, the believer's will aligns with God's will to advance His Kingdom.

The Lord's Day

We believe the Lord’s Day is divinely appointed for both private and public worship, a time for rest from unnecessary work focused on spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. As a memorial to Christ’s resurrection, it symbolizes our eternal rest and is vital for the church’s stability, growth, and the community’s well-being.
